LINCOLN, Neb. – Authorities have disclosed the identity of the driver involved in a fatal car-pedestrian accident that occurred on Saturday near Sun Valley Boulevard and West O Street.

Lincoln Police Department (LPD) reported that 30-year-old Vanesa Nicole Williams was behind the wheel of the vehicle traveling westbound when the incident took place.

The collision happened at 11:46 a.m., prompting immediate response from LPD and Lincoln Fire and Rescue. The victim, a 62-year-old man, was sitting on a raised center median when the vehicle, driven by Williams, crossed over the median and struck him.

Emergency services swiftly transported the injured pedestrian to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity until his next of kin has been notified.

Upon investigation, it was determined that Williams was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident. Consequently, she has been cited and detained on charges of felony motor vehicle homicide.
